The Munch is all about the things I make, bake, create and cook.  Sometimes it is a simple little thing and other times a complete meal.  If it’s worth making it is worth sharing.

Roasted Apples & Pears with Caramel Sauce

Our “holiday interrupted” was rescheduled for this weekend to eat up all the food we couldn’t make due to the kidney stone situation.  So we headed for the beach on Saturday afternoon and hung out with the sisters and get a quick dinner out after all the prep work for the Sunday barbecue was complete.  But dessert was back at the house, and I was making it.  We were also about to watch a movie; so I wanted simple and easy. And since I am an undisciplined Baker it could not require chemistry.  This was perfect. These roasted apples & pears took five…

Pork Loin Chops Thai-style & More

I was shopping last Friday at Costco as I do at least twice each month and I came across these beautiful pork loin chops. It was a pack of six, and each chop was two inches thick. They were calling me, and I knew just what to do with them. Our neighbor Natalie and her kids just got back from a week long vacation, and we really missed them, so we invited them for happy hour and dinner on Sunday.  Her parents are also in town, and so I said to bring them along we have plenty of food. So the gang came over, and…

Turkey Burger with Herbs & Tzatziki Sauce

I shot a wedding on Saturday for a lovely young couple.  It was an indoor/outdoor event with temperatures hovering at about 90 degrees most of the day.  Those type of hot days can be so draining when you are on your feet for 9-10 hours.  So on Sunday, we were heading to the beach to spend it with family. Sunday was also our 29th anniversary, so there was no other place we wanted to be. You know from my praiseworthy post about Stella’s Greek Restaurant that I love Greek flavors. So when I got to my sister’s place at the…

Tarragon & The Dinner for Eight

* Saturday Dinner Club * It is my turn to host a wonderful group of friends for dinner.  We each take a turn at making a scratch dinner served along with lots of wine.  On Friday morning, I still did not know what I was going to make. But that is typical for me as I need to mash around ideas in my head for several days to then give me direction.  Then I peruse my recipes to see what is close to what I have been pondering.  I decided the main course to be Deconstructed Tarragon Chicken Pot Pie…

Lemon is Summer & Dinner for Four!

Saturday we had friends, Shawn and Michael over for dinner.  With Shawn being a destination wedding planner and me a wedding photographer, it takes some doing to find a Saturday when all four of us are free.  It was so great to catch up. Shawn and I’s cocktail wine was a bottle of the French, La Galoche, Beaujolais Blanc 2016.  Gary and Michael started with the Greek, Galavas Voudomato 2016 Rosé.  With dinner, we drank the Spanish Casa Morales, Rioja 2016 Rosé and ended the night with a bottle of the French, Puech Haut Prestige 2016 Rosé.  We were all over the…

Bread Pudding: Oh, I am a Bad Boy!

I was going to write this post for tomorrow, but when I woke up this morning, I saw today is National Donut Day.  So I got busy and posted it today. Ok, now I bet you are confused.  The title says bread pudding but you had to post because it’s National Donut Day?  What gives?   Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.  That is what gives. Now before you get to the recipe, you must know that bread pudding is one of my all-time favorite desserts.  As such, I have rules about what makes this dessert “to die for” versus “to die from.”…

Sartù di Riso or {Sartu of Rice}

What is a Sartù?  Sartù is a rice meal cooked in a dome-shaped bowl with a medley of ingredients as a filling. *Worth Every Minute* When my friend Karen suggested I make this dish, I thought sure, no problem, I got this.  She said it was like Arancini (Italian Rice Balls) on steroids. Then I read the recipe, and on the outside, I was cool, calm and collected. On the inside, I was sweating bullets. It took me a couple of weeks to commit and finally head to the market to get the remaining ingredients that are not always in my pantry. And…

Chicken Marbella on Mother’s Day

Yesterday was Mother’s Day.  I hope all mothers had a fantastic day and were pampered accordingly. For dinner, the family met at my sister’s house on the beach, and we had a wonderful dinner of Chicken Marbella with crazy ingredients that are magic in your mouth;  Zucchini Spaghetti sautéed with sliced Vidalia onion, garlic and cherry tomatoes and a delightful Arugula and Pear Salad. But my day started with a trip to the market to pick up some flowers to give to “stranger” moms.  See my April 27th post to catch the gist. I have to tell you that this year it…
