While I am not a fan of canned, jarred, or frozen peaches, I do love fresh ripe peaches right off the tree. There is nothing better than biting into one, slurping as you go, but still the juice runs down your chin. Over the past couple of weeks, South Carolina and Georgia peaches are abundant. (did you know that South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia?) Local peaches are picked ripe so you can not let them sit too long. This cake is dense, moist, and flavorful. So a little goes a long way to satiate my cravings, and it lasted close to a week without drying out thanks to the applesauce and the buttermilk. Leave a CommentDuring my childhood, we ate pumpkin pie from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I love love, love pumpkin pie and I can never get enough of it. I also love croissants and bread pudding too. So this year I had the hair-brained idea to make a bread pudding using croissants and pumpkin pie filling. To make the custard I slightly modified the recipe for the pumpkin pie custard by adding more liquid and eggs and adjusting the spices.
