Monkey Bread Hack – Oh. My. God.

I know you are sitting at your desk watching the clock. It is Thanksgiving week, and you just want to be home getting ready for the celebration. Well, this post will keep you busy for a minute, and you are going to love me and hate me for this one.  But I am not sorry for sharing this amazingly quick and simple way to make gooey, sweet, delicious Monkey Bread. Your kids will love me for sure!

When the holiday season begins with the onset of Thanksgiving, it is a pretty good bet that you will find a package of King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls in my pantry. They always come in handy for little cocktail sandwiches using leftover ham or turkey when you get an invite to an impromptu gathering.  But what do you do when you need an impromptu breakfast sweet roll? You use those King’s Hawaiian’s to make Monkey Bread, that is what!

Monkey Bread ala King’s Hawaiian

You should have everything you need in your fridge and pantry. So let’s get started.

Ingredients

Package King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls (12 rolls)
1 egg
1 Tblspn milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup chopped candied pecans, regular pecans, or another nut of your choosing.
1-4 oz. stick butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

Preparation

The very first thing you do is preheat the oven to 350° so that it’s hot enough when you are ready. Then spray your bundt pan with butter cooking spray. You can use an 8-inch round cake pan with a heatproof ramekin in the center of the pan if you do not have a bundt pan.

Blend the cinnamon and granulated sugar in a small bowl.
Beat together the egg and the milk using an immersion blender to cream together. Cut each dinner roll into fourths and put in a mixing bowl. Slowly pour egg mixture over the roll pieces. Try to cover as many pieces as possible. Using your hands carefully, toss the pieces to coat each piece further.
Next, add in the sugar and cinnamon. Again using your hands, carefully toss to coat. Dump the mixture into the sprayed pan.Monkey Bread

Top the bread mixture with your chopped nuts.  Stir melted butter and brown sugar together and pour evenly over the mixture in the pan.

I used candied pecans on half because that is what I like and Marcona Almonds on the other half for Gary.
Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the brown sugar has caramelized and the top is a mix of soft and crispy. (Check at 15 minutes if your oven runs hot)
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes so that the sugar stops bubbling. Gently loosen the bread from the pan with a flexible spatula. Place an upside-down platter over the top of the pan and invert the pan to release the bread.Monkey Bread Serve immediately.
