In My Glass & Some Covid Laughs

Sheltering at home has become monotonous.   It is not that these days are much different than most other days, except for the fact that the choice to go out or not has been made for us. We have even continued our neighborhood happy hours, albeit at a social distance of 6 feet apart.  But it is a mental game that has been playing with my head. My ability to focus is limited by the ongoing distraction. To get out of my head, I need/want two things, laughs, and wine. So this post is some funny memes I have collected on social media as well as more of the wine that has been in my glass.

In My Glass: Lingua Franca

2017 Avni Pinot Noir, Eola Amity Hills AVA, (Willamette Valley) Oregon

In My Glass

When our friends Craig and Bryan showed up at our door with this bottle of 2017n Avni Pinot Noir from Lingua Franca, I jumped for joy. Craig looked at me like I was a crazy man. He said, “You helped me pick it out when we went wine shopping.”  I shrugged. I had no idea that they would share it with us. My smile persisted until the cork popped.

Intense, luscious red fruit aromas prevail. It is medium-bodied with a satin mouthfeel. Red fruits abound on the nose and the palate. And a bump of acid completes the sip.

In My Glass: Acquiesce Wines

We finally broke down and became Club Members of Acquiesce Wines out of Lodi, CA. I have been reading about Sue & Rodney’s wines for some time now, and they seem to be a wine writer favorite.  I was intrigued by the fact that they are a white wine producer, except for the Grenache Rosé.

We are preparing a post about Acquiesce Wines, so you will need to hold on for more information. Just know that we are thrilled with what we have sampled so far and look forward to a great relationship with them. These are Rhône varietals, so you may not recognize or have tried these wines. But when you do… You will be delighted to have discovered them.

In my glass
Grenache Rosé (the only non-white wine they make)
In my glass
Picpoul Blanc – what a “lip stinger” waiting for you here.
In My Glass
Viognier – A wine that Gary has challenges with because they tend to be overly perfume… Not this one. This is the first one I have ever heard him say that he enjoyed. Grenache Blanc – This is their signature white. It is what they are known for. And rightfully so. It Is delicious.

In My Glass: Weinbau Paetra

2019 Pinot Gris Yamhill Carlton AVA (Willamette Valley) Oregon

In my glass

This wine is bursting with mouthwatering acidity. We found orchard blossom, pear, and a hint of apple on the nose. The palate is full of juicy citrus with back notes of pear. We shared this bottle with Bryan and Craig, and we all wished we had several bottles so that we could enjoy just this wine all evening long. Weinbau Paetra is direct to consumer as well as in distribution in several states.

Loved this for today we all need humor to get us through each day we just need to find the humor and laugh even if it’s at ourselves. I have been telling my daughters now you know what it’s like for us senior citizens we live alone can not see anyone for several days or talk to anyone find myself talking out loud just to make sure I have a voice. Now, these masks let me talk all I want in the grocery store and I don’t have to explain that I live alone and find myself doing that. Wine is the best !! This too shall all pass not on our time but on God’s and may we all be patient and kind when this passes ALL SHALL BE WELL!!!

  2. I needed these laughs! Especially the one about the future being kids homeschooled by day drinkers. I relate to that on a serious level. I feel seen!

  3. I love the dinosaur one! And the Paetra is an outstanding wine! I remember tasting it at a wine event in NYC. I couldn’t believe the price.
