Charleston Wine and Food Festival – Part 2

I know it has been a couple of weeks since the Charleston Wine and Food Festival ended but I still wanted to share my experience in the Culinary Village because it is such an essential aspect of the festival. So here is my take on the Village. Let me say from the outset that I had a blast on Sunday and I will definitely be back next year. There are a few aspects of the Culinary Village where I offer what I hope is seen as constructive criticism. That by no means is a bad thing just my humble opinion…

Felix Cocktails et Cuisine

Thursday Evening: Part Deux (two) Rarely does the ambiance and interiors of a restaurant transport you to the place of inspiration as much as the proprietor desires. That is not the case at Felix Cocktails et Cuisine on upper King St. While it is nondescript on the outside, it is perfectly French on the inside from the art and decor to the tables, the music and the uniform for the staff.  Oh yeah, and then there is the food which completes the journey. The only thing that could make it more authentic is a staff with French accents, but that just…

Slovenian Wine Tasting at EO Exchange

Thursday evening was a great night to be a wine and food blogger. My friend Karen and I started our outing with a stop at Edmunds Oast Exchange for the Thursday evening wine tasting. This is a super deal and should not be missed. You make a $5.00 donation to the charity of the week, and you taste four wines in a walk-in style tasting. Ask all the questions you have running through your brain. Then buy some wine. They have excellent volume discounts. This week they were tasting Slovenian Wine from Movia. After the tasting, we headed to Felix Cocktails et Cuisine for…

Wine Tasting * Sonoma with Suzanne *

Just One Day: Wine Tasting in The Sonoma Valley Last month at the conclusion of the Wine Blogger Conference, I added a quick two days so do some wine tasting and visit with an old friend that moved to the area. I was so lucky that Suzanne was available as I could not imagine wine tasting here without her. Suzanne is a friend from my Chicago days. It has been 14 years since we last saw each other when Gary and I moved to the southeast coast.  She too left Chicago and moved to the San Francisco Bay area a few…

Hanna Winery & Vineyards

I had been looking forward to this day for months. I got to mingle with other bloggers, taste great wines and learn, learn, learn. This is Wine Bloggers Conference 2017, day one. This day was jam-packed starting with a tour and gourmet luncheon with pairings at Hanna Winery & Vineyards followed by a Zinfandel tasting, a Pinot Noir tasting and then the opening reception with tasting tables called, “Wines of the World.” Whew! If it sounds like a lot, it was. I was overwhelmed. The highlight of this day was Hanna Winery and Vineyards, so let’s go! Hanna Winery & Vineyards We…

Wine Country: Wildfires & Trip Overview

My Wine Country Experience Whew, I can not believe it has been eleven days since I last posted. But as you know I took a trip to Northern California wine country for the 2017 Wine Bloggers Conference and then added a couple of days of touring with a dear friend.  To be sure, I had no real idea what I was in for so I had to adjust on the fly. I intended to post while away, but if there is anything that some may know about me, it’s that I am an “all in” kind of person. As such,…

Morris Island Lighthouse Sunset Tour

My aunt and cousin are in town for their annual visit. My aunt is one of the last surviving members of my parent’s generation. She has always been an important part of our lives, and we are so happy that we are still a part of hers. She means the world to us, and we love that she makes the journey to see us each year. My cousin asked that we again this year plan “something special” for her mom. One of my sisters threw out a couple of boating ideas that I quickly caboshed as “boring and/or pedestrian.” So…

goat.sheep.cow.north

goat.sheep.cow.north I have done many things at goat.sheep.cow.north. I have gone to a wine tasting, bought several bottles of wine and a few blocks of cheese, and I have sat at the bar and had a glass or two of wine. But what I have not done is sit down at a table to drink wine and eat. So that is what we did last Friday with Liz and her lifelong friends, Diane and Stephen from Atlanta. But first, know that goat.sheep.cow.north is three entities all wrapped into one location. It is a curated wine store. It is the best…

P-town: One More Thing

Carnival, Whales, Lodging & Food I know P-town… again? But there is just so much that I want to share with you. I just need one more post, and then I will have the weekend to get back into my routine. Cooking, Drinking, Eating, etc… Marti Gras + Pride = P-town Carnival We chose to take our vacation the third week in August because that is Carnival Week. There are all kinds of parties and events, and it seems that everyone has a costume on at one point or another. All week long you just never know what you will…
